Summer 2016 - One summer day in Iitate-mura, Fukushima

In the middle of summer holidays. The first weekend of August 2016, 3/11, KPJ staff went to Fukushima, Miyagi and Iwate to meet the correspondent kids. We had not met them for a long time, so we could see they are grown-up and we spent treasured time with them.

The first day, the morning of 6th August 2016, we saw Hiroki Kanno and went together to Iitate-mura where he was born.

Hiroki has left KPJ activity when he graduated High School but he is still taking photos of his hometown by himself.

The whole area of Iitate-mura has been ordered to evacuate by the government.

However, the government announced to them that it is going to lift the order on 31st March 2017 except for the "difficult-to-return zone" which has high radioactivity.

Hiroki's grandparents are now busy sorting out and preparing to live back in the village from next spring.

Also on this day, his grandfather was working in his house of Iitate-mura from early morning.

Hiroki took photos of himself in front of his grandfather's house and scenery near his house.

At Iitate-mura village the decontamination work was still continuing.

We saw many trucks operating, workers and a lot of flexible storage bags with contaminated soil.

When Hiroki send us the report and photos we will upload them to our blog.

Please look forward to it.
